The dental assistant supports the dentist during various treatment procedures while adhering to OSHA and HIPAA standards, which includes taking and developing X-rays and managing infection control protocols. Key duties also involve direct patient interaction, providing oral care instructions post-treatment, and performing necessary office management tasks.
Candidates must possess required certificates in Infection Control and X-ray, and prior experience in a health-related field or customer service is preferred. Physical requirements include adequate hearing, speaking, and vision, along with the ability to perform tasks requiring occasional lifting, frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements.
Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone.
Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
Aptitude to complete tasks, including abilities such as learning, remembering, focusing, categorizing, and integrating information for decision making, problem-solving, and comprehending.
Requires occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 20 pounds unassisted. Requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements (specifically keyboarding and writing), standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.
