Technologists must safely and competently operate imaging equipment, adjusting techniques to maintain diagnostic quality while minimizing radiation dose (ALARA). Key duties include obtaining patient history, verifying orders, explaining procedures using AIDET, ensuring patient comfort and safety, performing exams, reviewing images for acceptability, and completing accurate documentation in RIS/PACS.
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and have completed an accredited Radiologic Technology program. A minimum of two years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital setting is required, along with current ARRT-R and American Heart Association BLS certifications.

Work Shift: Full Time Job Summary The Wellstar Diagnostic Float Team (WEST Team) supports a variety of imaging services across our facilities. Region Four includes Columbia County Medical Center and MCG Health Medical Center. As a Radiologic Technologist for Region Four, you will apply your expertise to deliver safe, high-quality imaging and a supportive patient experience at each location you serve. If you prefer a role that avoids routine, lets you use your full skill set, and provides straightforward pay, this could be a strong fit. Pay In return for stepping in where you’re needed most, Float Pool members earn a higher base rate and may be eligible for a float incentive. Schedule & Incentives Multiple shift options available to self-schedule up to 8 weeks in advance Monthly schedule includes 2 Monday shifts, 2 Friday shifts, and 3 weekend shifts (Sat/Sun) This position is eligible for full-time benefits Required Qualifications Education High School Diploma or equivalent Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program Experience Minimum 2 years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital setting Certifications ARRT-R (Radiography) BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association Core Responsibilities Operate imaging/radiographic equipment safely and competently, adjusting technique to maintain diagnostic quality at the lowest reasonable dose (ALARA). Clean, disinfect, and maintain rooms/equipment per infection control schedules; identify and report equipment issues promptly. Obtain clinical history and screen for contraindications; verify orders and two unique patient identifiers before any exam. Explain procedures, prep, and post-care clearly using AIDET; address questions and reduce patient anxiety. Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and safety; provide age-appropriate care throughout the visit. Perform exams and administer contrast per protocol, using venipuncture and sterile technique when applicable. Position patients correctly and apply markers, shielding, and immobilization as indicated. Review images for diagnostic acceptability; repeat/correct as needed and release patients appropriately. Complete accurate, timely documentation and ensure studies are correctly finalized in RIS/PACS (including transfers/retrieval, CDs, and prior exam retrieval as needed). Monitor patient condition, respond to emergencies, and help maintain/restock crash cart and life-support equipment as required. Organize daily workflow to meet expected timeframes; collaborate with technologists/modalities to support department flow. Support operations and compliance, keep areas orderly and stocked, transport patients safely, complete charging/clerical tasks, follow regulatory requirements, and escalate issues to the supervisor.
