The Research Specialist will monitor the social and behavioral health of captive group-housed rhesus macaques and sooty mangabeys, performing behavioral observation, physical transport, and basic health surveillance. Responsibilities also include performing defined research and laboratory tests according to protocols, setting up experiments, and maintaining laboratory records.
A Bachelor's degree in a scientific field or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training is required for this role. Desired qualifications include experience working with laboratory animals, excellent communication skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast high paced, dynamic work environment. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work schedule to be discussed during interview. Work is performed in an outdoor field station (70%) and in an office atmosphere (30%). Requires the ability to bend, kneel, and/or squat, and the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Work environment involves working with biohazardous blood and tissues. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. Performs related responsibilities as directed by Colony Manager and Colony Director.
