The Certified Pharmacy Technician is responsible for preparing and delivering medications to nursing and ancillary departments under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. They also participate in medication verification, maintain automated dispensing systems, and ensure quality and safety standards.
Candidates must be registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician and possess the ability to read, write, and speak English. Knowledge of departmental policies and guidelines is also required.
Participates in Tech Product Verification, completes Omnicell rounds, and monitors/maintains automated dispensing systems. Prepares and compounds sterile and non-sterile medications according to USP standards and performs reconstitutions as required. Completes accurate medication history reconciliations and supports medication preparation and delivery to nursing and ancillary units. Fills unit dose medications, operating room and anesthesia machine medications, and manages narcotic pulls and deliveries. Performs monthly nursing unit checks, outdate reviews, and restocks crash carts, kits, and stroke boxes. Processes floor stock orders, refill requests, admission/discharge/transfer labels, and assists with inventory and wholesaler ordering. Maintains quality and safety standards by documenting refrigerator temperatures, answering/triaging calls, and troubleshooting Omnicell equipment.
Registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician Ability to read, write, and speak English. Knowledge of the departments policies and guidelines
