The primary role involves performing ultrasound examinations of the heart and vessels to aid physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular disorders. Essential functions include selecting appropriate equipment, monitoring ultrasonic patterns for quality, documenting results, and consulting with physicians regarding test data.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and completion of an ultrasound program, with eligibility for RVS or RVT preferred. A minimum requirement is holding a BLS certification before the orientation period concludes, alongside excellent communication skills for a fast-paced setting.
Overview Performs ultrasound examinations of the heart and vessels to assist the physician in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders affecting the cardiovascular system.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions Knowledgable of and selects appropriate ultrasound equipment for echocardiogram procedures. Monitors sound waves for quality of ultrasonic patterns and documents on appropriate media to obtain a permanent record of examiniation. Consults with physicians as required regarding collection of test data and critical test results. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Inspects equipment daily to ensure it is operating effectively. Reports malfunctions. Collaborates effectively with other members of healthcare team concerning pertinent patient information and interventions needed. Completes other duties or task as assigned.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience RequiredEducation/Licensure: High school graduate or GED required, completion of ultrasound program; RVS or RVT eligible preferred .
