Senior Cytotechnologist

• The full-time Senior Cytotechnologist will support technical laboratory personnel in the day-to-day operations of the Cytopathology Laboratory in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
• The incumbent will: Prepare and microscopically examine slides of human cell samplings for the presence of disease or other abnormality.
• Receive, accession and process GYN and Non-GYN specimens, blocks, and slides.
• Assist FNA and biopsy procedures and perform quick adequacy assessment.
• Monitor incoming phone inquiries and requests.
• Serve as the general supervisor of the cytology laboratory as defined by CLIA and is responsible for day-to-day supervision of the laboratory operations and personnel in the absence of the supervisor.
• Perform CAP survey samples and competency exams accurately and within the established time frame.
• Perform QC/QA functions, including QC correlations, prospective and retrospective case reviews, and statistical records.
• Handle and dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous materials in accordance with safety protocols.
• Maintain and organize laboratory supplies.
• Monitor inventory levels and prepare simple reagents as needed.
• The Keck School of Medicine Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is one of the largest pathology departments in the United States.

• Hourly range: The hourly rate range for this position is $59.48 - $68.17.
