Step Down Unit SDU / PCU Branson Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit is similar to a cardiac/neuro tele floor, caring for patients with a higher level of acuity than those on med/surg floors. Nurse to patient ratio is 1:4-5 We use a tiered level of acuity: Gray rooms: These are designated for the more acutely ill patients. Nurses care for patients requiring BiPAP initiation, Optiflow, cardiac gtts, and insulin gtts. White rooms: These include patients with stroke, STEMI/NSTEMI, cardiac, respiratory, renal conditions, and ETOH patients on telemetry.
