The primary duties involve performing patient care functions related to mammography procedures, including assisting patients, explaining procedures, and operating mammography equipment for diagnostic exams. The role also requires utilizing PACS systems, critiquing images, and ensuring proper documentation for radiologist interpretation.
Candidates must possess an Associate’s Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, along with one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Essential certifications include a Mammography Certificate/License, ARRT, and Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.

(other duties may be assigned, deleted or changed at any time, at the discretion of management, formally, or informally, either verbally or in writing). 1. Assist patients in preparation for mammography procedures. Explains procedures to patient/family to gain cooperation and understanding. 2. Perform mammography exams using correct positioning, shielding, equipment and technical factors. 3. Utilize PACS systems to attain and store radiology images. Ensure patient demographics match electronic radiology order and each image is accounted for. 4. Critique images and complete documentation in PACS network and electronic radiology order to ensure the study is promptly and correctly available for the Radiologist to interpret. 5. Operate mammography equipment to perform diagnostic procedures.
6. Escort patients into area and ensure that patients are properly clothed and draped; explain and direct breathing instructions and positioning during the procedure.
7. Complete each mammogram and evaluate clinical images as stated by the American College of Radiology.
8. Ensure that patient history is correct and supplied to the radiologist for interpretation.
14. Practice hand washing techniques, infection control, and isolation procedures.
