The Mammography Technologist I performs mammography exams under radiologist guidance, adhering to MQSA and state regulations while ensuring high-quality images using the lowest possible dose. Responsibilities also include maintaining patient well-being, confidentiality, communicating effectively with the healthcare team, and documenting continuing education requirements.
Required qualifications include a High School diploma or GED, graduation from an accredited radiography program, at least one year of Radiography licensure, passing the ARRT Mammography exam, and possessing a Massachusetts mammography license. Preferred qualifications include BLS/ACLS certification and knowledge of relevant regulations and equipment.
Location: 40 Holland Street, Somerville, MA, 02144 Department: Radiology - Mammography Schedule: Full time, 40 hours/weekly, Four 10hr shifts, Monday-Thursday, 7:30am-6:00pm (hours may be flexible) As a Mammography Technologist I you will work under the guidance of a radiologist, perform mammography exams in accordance with MQSA, state regulations, and with health centers’ established policies and procedures.
Confirms appropriate clinical data, obtains patient history, and uses the lowest possible dose to provide high quality images for the interpreting radiologist Provides for the emotional, physical well-being, and safety of the patient while maintaining strict standards of patient confidentiality Communicate effectively with patients as well as other members of the health care team Recognizes and effectively communicates equipment problems in a timely manner to the Department Supervisor For every location worked, provides on-going CEU documentation to support licensure requirement Continuing education and continuing experience requirements as defined by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) must be maintained Willingness to cover in other location(s) when urgent need arises Willingness to participate in the training of new mammographers

High School diploma or equivalency certificate (e.g. GED, HiSET, TASC Test) from an accredited institution or governmental unit Graduate of an accredited radiography program Must be licensed in Radiography for 1+ years Passed the ARRT exam in Mammography Must possess mammography license in the state of Massachusetts
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required based on specialty Knowledge of Mammography equipment and MQSA and ACR regulations Knowledge of PACS and associated equipment General knowledge of healthcare delivery services Proven ability to learn and master new tasks related to Image Quality and Safety Proven ability to communicate effectively and work with people of various diverse backgrounds Proven ability to complete Mammography exams in a timely manner even under stressful condition
