The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood samples and obtaining other specimens for diagnostic studies. They also perform assigned waived testing and manage patient reports.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and 1-3 years of experience in a clinical laboratory. A phlebotomy certification is preferred, along with the necessary skills for specimen collection and processing.
Under the supervision of the Laboratory Director and the Laboratory Manager, the Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood samples using venipuncture or skin techniques and obtaining other specimens for ordered diagnostic studies. Also responsible for performing assigned waived testing, charting and faxing all types of patient reports.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience in lieu of High School Diploma/GED education will be considered. MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years in a clinical laboratory. PREFERRED: LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Phlebotomy certification. REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge and skills to perform venipunctures, specimen processing and communication with customers.
