The Certified Ophthalmic Assistant will assist physicians in performing diagnostic tests for evaluating patient eye problems and direct the flow of patients in the clinic. Responsibilities include conducting preliminary screenings, maintaining patient charts, and explaining procedures to alleviate patient concerns.
Candidates must have a high school education and at least one year of experience in Ophthalmology or Optometry, or have graduated from an accredited Ophthalmic Technician program. Certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant by JCAHPO and BLS Certification are also required.
