The Respiratory Therapist assesses patient respiratory status using clinical data, sets up and monitors mechanical ventilators, and performs airway management including tracheal suctioning. Duties also involve obtaining and analyzing blood gases, and potentially performing specialized procedures like arterial line insertion and endotracheal intubation based on competency.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited respiratory therapy program and hold a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license from the Georgia Composite Medical Board, along with NBRC RRT credentialing. Required certifications include American Heart Association's BLS and ACLS.

The Registered Respiratory Therapist at Northside Hospital independently provides various respiratory therapy treatments and procedures in accordance with physician orders and established guidelines, and in accordance with the scope of practice as defined by the Georgia Composite Medical Boad. The Northside Hospital Registered Respiratory Therapist manages care for an assigned group of patients including adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, and adult or neonatal intensive care area with completed competency in accordance with the philosophy and policies of Northside Hospital.
REQUIRED Must be a graduate of an accredited respiratory care program. Licensed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from Georgia Composite Medical Board in good standing without limitations. Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) by the American Heart Association. Certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) by the American Heart Association. Certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) by the American Heart Association. PREFERRED Bachelor’s degree in respiratory therapy One (1) year of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Certified in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Work Hours: 7PM-730AM Weekend Requirements: Yes On-Call Requirements: No
