This role involves evaluating the daily documentation practices of medical staff for complex patient populations, providing education, and ensuring documentation supports appropriate diagnosis coding and accurately reflects the level of service rendered. Responsibilities include performing quality mortality reviews and reviews for various risk adjustment model indicators.
Candidates must have a minimum of five years of current, pertinent clinical experience in an acute care facility and an Associate's Degree in Nursing or higher, along with current RN licensure. Preferred qualifications include ICD coding experience, ICU/ED/Case Management experience, and CCDS certification.
Evaluates the day to day documentation practices of the Medical Staff and healthcare team on a complex patient population, and offers education and recommendations in accordance with the Clinical Documentation Program. Provides clinical expertise in the documentation and coding of diagnoses and procedures; stays abreast of coding and reimbursement changes; promotes quality coding and serves as a resource to the coding staff. Reports to the Corporate Clinical Documentation Manager. Performs other duties as assigned.
