The Neuro-Oncologist will diagnose and treat various cancer conditions using personalized, evidence-based treatment plans while maintaining high patient satisfaction through compassionate communication. Key duties involve conducting thorough evaluations, accurate documentation, and engaging in multidisciplinary collaboration within the Cancer Center team.
Candidates must possess an MD or DO degree, completion of residency in neurology or a related field, and fellowship training in neuro-oncology, along with board certification or eligibility in medical oncology or neurology. Required credentials include an active, unrestricted Florida Medical License and valid DEA registration.
The Cancer Center of South Florida (CCSF) is searching for a Neuro Oncologist who is a board-certified or board-eligible physician specializing in the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of patients with tumors of the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves. At the Cancer Center of South Florida (CCSF), the Neuro Oncologist plays a vital role within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, delivering compassionate, evidence-based care to patients and their families. This position requires strong clinical acumen, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to continuous learning and leadership within the field of oncology. Patient Care Excellence & Satisfaction Diagnose and treat a wide range of cancer conditions using evidence-based standards of care. Create and implement personalized treatment plans tailored to each patient's medical and emotional needs. Provide clear, compassionate communication and guidance to patients and their families. Maintain high patient satisfaction through courtesy, respect, and service excellence. Engage in ongoing communication with patients to promote trust and shared decision-making. Clinical Quality & Efficiency Conduct thorough patient evaluations, order appropriate diagnostic tests, and interpret results accurately. Deliver timely and complete documentation of patient visits, treatment plans, and follow-ups. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of advancements in medical oncology and apply best practices. Demonstrate personal reliability and efficiency in managing patient care responsibilities.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration & Collegiality Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and administrative staff to deliver coordinated, comprehensive care. Participate in tumor boards, case reviews, and care planning discussions. Maintain respectful, supportive relationships with colleagues and contribute to a positive work culture. Share professional insights in a constructive and collegial manner; resolve conflicts respectfully.
Community Involvement & Professional Representation Represent CCSF in the community through patient and physician outreach. Build and maintain positive relationships with local healthcare providers, business leaders, and civic organizations. Participate in CCSF initiatives that strengthen visibility and trust in the community.
Payor Relations & Value-Based Care Deliver care that is aligned with CCSF’s quality standards and value-based outcomes. Maintain positive, professional relationships with payors and contribute to favorable performance data. Avoid disputes or negative feedback by ensuring accurate documentation and strong care coordination.
Proactivity & Practice Engagement Take initiative in solving clinical, operational, or organizational challenges. Actively contributes to improving internal workflows, patient experience, and staff collaboration. Engage in committee work, quality reviews, or special projects that enhance CCSF’s operations.
Regulatory & Ethical Compliance Comply with all federal and state healthcare laws, including HIPAA, FCA, AKS, and the Stark Law. Follow CCSF’s internal policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines. Maintain a valid, unrestricted medical license and promote a culture of compliance and accountability.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution. Completion of residency in neurology or a related field. Fellowship training in neuro-oncology. Board certification in medical oncology, neurology or equivalent.
Must possess and maintain an active, unrestricted Florida Medical License issued by the Florida Board of Medicine. Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Medical Oncology or Neurology is required. Valid DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) registration for prescribing controlled substances.
Knowledge of oncology, hematology, diagnostics and evidence-based protocols Strong critical thinking and decision-making in complex medical situations. Ability to clearly communicate with patients, families, and care teams. Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment meanwhile promoting collegiality and mutual respect. Ability to manage time and have a high attention to detail. Ability to demonstrate leadership, integrity, and compliance with medical, ethical and legal standards. Knowledge of using electronic medical record systems (EMR).
