The Medical Assistant supports medical and nursing staff by performing routine clinical and clerical tasks for pediatric patients during outpatient appointments, including phlebotomy and assisting with cast procedures. Responsibilities also involve rooming patients, taking vital signs, preparing exam rooms, stocking supplies, and accurately documenting information in the Electronic Medical Record under the direction of the RN.
Required qualifications include Medical Assistant Certification from a nationally recognized association, a High School Diploma or GED, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Preferred qualifications include two years of experience as a Medical Assistant and two years of pediatric care experience.
The Medical Assistant assists in rooming patients, taking vital signs, measurements, preparation of exam rooms, stocking supplies, assisting the physician, interacting with other departments and documentation in the electronic medical record. The Medical Assistant works with and under the direction of the RN. Assists providers, nursing and other health care professionals with procedures and the intake and depart processes. Accurately documents information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Responsible for prepping clinic to be prepared for that day's clinic to include monitoring supplies and equipment and ordering supplies Utilizes good clinical judgement to identify problems and interventions with patients and families and referral to RN as needed. This is not an all-inclusive list of this job’s responsibilities. The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
