The representative interviews and registers patients, obtaining complete demographic and financial information, and financially clears accounts for admission and ambulatory departments using established policies and procedures. Responsibilities also include verifying insurance, obtaining necessary authorizations, and arranging payment agreements for scheduled services or outstanding balances.
A high school education level is required, along with well-developed interpersonal and communication skills necessary for obtaining patient information and effectively communicating with the public. Candidates should have the ability to respectfully set payment arrangement terms and possess knowledge of third-party health insurance authorization and validation processes.
