The specialist is responsible for providing mental health services in the Emergency Department, including crisis assessment, intervention, and making appropriate referrals based on patient acuity. This role also involves discharge planning, educating patients, acting as a community liaison, and assisting family members.
A Bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field is required for this position. Candidates must also possess one year of experience working in a psychiatric setting, a human service field, or a related area.
