The core responsibilities involve functioning as a Lead Inpatient Pharmacist within the organization. The role emphasizes serving with compassion and pursuing excellence in the healthcare industry.
A minimum requirement is holding an RPH - Registered Pharmacist license upon hire. A Bachelor of Pharmacy or a Doctorate of Pharmacy is required, with the Doctorate being preferred.
Supervises pharmacists in area. Provides clinical pharmaceutical care to patients. Prevents, detects, and resolves medication-related problems and makes appropriate evidence-based, patient-centered medication therapy recommendations. Participates as an effective member of interdisciplinary care team(s) and communicates follow-up with team. Effectively verifies patient medication orders for appropriateness and accuracy. Provides effective medication education to patients, families, team. Enhances the quality of delivery of care. Actively participates in the development and implementation of performance/quality improvement and patient safety initiatives, including medication event/adverse reaction reporting, follow-up, clinical guideline development, disease management and medication use evaluation/improvement. Represents pharmacy services on institutional/practice area committees and quality unit councils. Conducts monthly unit inspections of assigned area(s). Demonstrates proficiency in pharmacy distributive services. Demonstrates quality, safety and efficiency in the distribution process. Actively collaborates and demonstrates teamwork with pharmacy coworkers to ensure communication, excellent customer service, safe and effective drug distribution. Provides oversight for pharmacy technicians. Financial stewardship oversight. Participates in opportunities to improve the quality, effectiveness, and/or efficiency in distributing medications. Supports the education and professional development of the Pharmacy Department and other hospital disciplines (nursing/medical/etc.). Precepts residents, pharmacy students, or pharmacy technicians as assigned. Participates collegially in the development of new programs, services, and practices, educational activities of the pharmacy department and medical team. Engages in professional self-development. Completes medical center/pharmacy competency requirements by deadlines. Establishes regular meetings with manager. Enhances professional and technical knowledge/competency by attending seminars, continuing education programs, department meetings, etc. Demonstrates active membership/service/leadership in professional organizations.
Required Minimum Education: Bachelors Pharmacy or Doctorate Pharmacy-Preferred
