Job description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs diagnostic Computed Tomography procedures and techniques.
Prepares and administers contrast media as appropriate to procedures performed.
Reviews patients’ clinical history ensuring that appropriate scan is ordered, and labs are within range- reviewing with radiologist and/or provider as necessary.
Provides patient education.
Provides practical instruction for students and partners.
Initiates basic life support action when necessary.
Starts and maintains intravenous access, may include power injectable implanted ports and specialized lines Applies principles of patient safety during all aspects of procedures, including assisting and transporting patients.
Operates CT scanner and power injector to produce cross section images of patient anatomy for diagnostic purposes Administers contrast media orally and intravenous maintaining aseptic technique.
Documents all information pertinent to CT procedure in electronic medical record to include medication reconciliation.
Ensures patients receive discharge information regarding exam to include patient letter and information.
Flex to various shifts needed to support the department, may be required to flex up hours as needed to include weekends holidays and call Assist radiologist with interventional procedures as needed Reports and documents CT safety incidents/ adverse events per protocol.
Assist with medical record/image sharing as necessary Follows ALARA principles through accurate scan techniques and parameters Utilizes associated workstation to produce post process imaging and 3D reconstructions as required per protocol Adjust scan protocols/parameters as necessary for individual patient need Uses radiology information systems (including PACS), completes all required records and reports, submits images and data for physician review and interpretation.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Graduate of an accredited radiography program Minimum One (1) to Three (3) years of experience as a CT technologist preferred Will consider trainees and new graduates CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE ARRT Radiography registration required ARRT Computed Tomography registration required within 2 years of hire IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required if working in Illinois WI-DSPS radiographer license required if working in Wisconsin Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Passing the Driver’s License Check and/or Credit Check (for those positions requiring).
Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check.
Must be able to follow written/oral instructions.
