Job summary

Sycamores provides a spectrum of equitable mental health services through various programs to multicultural populations of all acuities. Although it serves a variety of consumers, the agency focuses primarily on providing care to low-income, high at- risk youth.

• The role of the Substance Abuse Counselor is to provide interventions that develop coping and problem-solving skills, teach social skills and teach transference of those skills into the home, school and community.
• A Substance Abuse Counselor is part of a multi-disciplinary team that implements integrated substance abuse services, provides individual and group counseling, and monitors the needs of clients with substance use disorders.
• Starting Pay Range: $24 - $28 per hour (starting pay will be based on previous work experience and educational background.) JOB QUALIFICATIONS 2 years’ experience as a drug and alcohol counselor working with adolescent population.
• Certification with one of State of California's approved Alcohol & Drug agencies (CCAPP, CAADE, CADTP) required.
• If an applicant has a history of substance use, a minimum of two (2) years of continuous sobriety prior to the date of employment is required, and ongoing sobriety must be maintained throughout the duration of employment.
• Maintains all required licenses and certifications.
• As this position requires regular and flexible travel between various client locations, driving is an essential function of this position.
• Candidate qualifications therefore include: Personal, reliable vehicle for travel to various locations.
• Valid California driver’s license.
• Acceptable driving record as determined Agency policy.
• Proof of auto insurance meeting minimum coverage requirements.
