Pharmacists will assess patient data to identify medication-related problems through reviews and consults, while actively participating in medical emergencies such as trauma, stroke, and STEMI alerts. They must review provider orders for appropriateness based on patient factors and ensure safe medication use by checking for incompatibilities and allergies.
A Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D.) from an ACPE approved college is required, along with either a successful completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency or three years of hospital experience. Applicants must also be a registered pharmacist in Pennsylvania.
