The Medical Technician/Technologist performs laboratory procedures requiring independent judgment, maintaining equipment and records, and executing quality assurance activities like controls and calibration verification. Responsibilities include following established procedures for specimen collection and processing, performing moderate to complex analytical tests, and analyzing quality control data to ensure accuracy.
Candidates need a certificate from a medical laboratory program before 1974, or preferably an associate or baccalaureate degree in applied laboratory science or medical laboratory technology. Initial certification with an accredited agency is required, or active pursuit thereof, along with maintaining continuing education compliance.
A Medical Technician/Technologist performs laboratory procedures using established and approved protocols, which require the broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision; maintains equipment and records; performs quality assurance activities related to test performance such as: quality controls, calibration, calibration verification, proficiency testing, linearity studies, and instrument or reagent troubleshooting. The MT operates under the guidance of the section supervisors and reports to the shift supervisor and laboratory director.
30pm-9:00pm with rotating weekends and holidays.
