Requirements summary
Candidates must be certified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), or Medical Technologist (MT) by a nationally recognized agency. Requirements also include an Associate's degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology for high complexity testing, or meeting specific equivalency/grandfathering clauses, and meeting CLIA 88 standards.

Requirements Certified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), or Medical Technologist (MT) by a nationally recognized Accreditation Agency High Complexity Testing requirement: Earned Associate's degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology. (Equivalency: 60 sem hrs w adequate course break-down AND training or experience).
High school graduates with appropriate training who are performing high complexity testing on or before 4/25/95, will continue to qualify.
Must meet CLIA 88 standards.
Or if prior to 4/24/95, have graduated from a medical laboratory school that has been approved or have completed a 50-week military training course.
