• Description of
• Responsibilities: The Pre-Admissions Testing RN is for gathering information from various outlets (physician, physician office, and patient) to determine eligibility for surgery in the Maine Eye Surgical Center. Responsible for coordinating surgical care for patients, working in collaboration with the surgeon, anesthesiologist and entire OR staff to maintain a safe surgical environment for the patient. This position generally works Monday – Friday between 8AM – 4:30PM.
• Responsibilities include and are not limited to: Performs phone interviews with each patient to collect health history data. Obtains necessary paperwork (PCP clearance, ECG, medication list, etc.) as indicated by individual patient health history. Provides patient education to ensure proper preparation for surgery and explanation of admission/surgical process. Maintain effective communication with OR regarding changes in patient schedule.

• Requirements: At least two (2) years nursing experience Pre-Admission Testing experience preferred Excellent communication and leadership skills Ability to collaborate with all healthcare team members for patient safety

• Demands: Requires normal range of vision and hearing for telephone and patient contact. Work may require sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending, reaching for files and supplies.
