This role involves providing direct patient and family care in an appropriate manner, participating in data collection, and performing unit-specific treatments such as IVs, phlebotomy, and EKG as directed by the staff nurse. The technician also assists physicians with procedures like fracture reduction and applies various immobilization devices while instructing patients on their care.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and maintain current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification along with current certification as a Nursing Assistant by the Maryland Board of Nursing. The position requires heavy physical exertion, potentially involving moving up to 100 pounds occasionally, and involves exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
