The Medical Assistant provides basic direct patient care, including lab tests, treatments, and medication administration, under the direction of nursing or physician staff. This role also encompasses essential clerical duties, quality control activities, and serving as a resource for clinical and clerical staff.
A High School Diploma or GED is required, along with strong organizational, critical thinking, and leadership abilities, and knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications. Medical Assistant Certification is preferred, and various background clearances (Acts 33, 34, FBI) and CPR certification are mandatory.
The Medical Assistant performs basic direct patient care activities, such as lab tests, treatments, and medication/immunization administration. These are performed under the direction of the Nurse and/or the physician in preparation for the patient's examination and treatment. The incumbent carries out clerical activities, quality control activities, performance improvement initiatives, etc. in support of the physician practice as assigned. This position also serves as a resource for the clerical/clinical staff in the practice.
• Previous outpatient office experience.
