The Pharmacy Technician II primarily refills physician's orders by stocking medication carts, preparing unit dose preparations, and managing floor stock medications for nursing units. Responsibilities also include assisting with outpatient prescription processing, maintaining patient medication profiles, and preparing sterile solutions like chemotherapy using aseptic technique.
Candidates must possess current registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the California Board of Pharmacy and have one year of equivalent pharmacy practice experience. A current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) card is mandatory, with a requirement to achieve RQI Responder certification within 60 days if not already held.

Per Diem Pharmacy Technician II - Inpatient Pharmacy- Per Diem- Shift
This is the journey level of the Pharmacy Technician flexible series. Incumbents are registered Pharmacy Technicians. Incumbents perform routine duties in Pharmacy practice. Promotion to Pharmacy Technician III is dependent upon current registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the California Board of Pharmacy, recommendation of the Department Head and approval by the Director of Personnel.

One-year experience as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee with Kern Medical Center or equivalent pharmacy practice.
Current registration by the California Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.
Possession and maintenance of a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) card.
Appointees not possessing the American Heart Association Responder or Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) card at time of hire must successfully complete appropriate training and qualify for the RQI Responder certification within 60 days of employment. As a continued condition of employment, employee must maintain RQI Responder certification and competency.
Non-professional pharmacy practices for inpatient and ambulatory care; restrictive nature of medications and controlled substances; aseptic techniques in the preparation of sterile products; laboratory techniques and inventory procedures including process, expiration and limited stability dates.
Read and understand prescriptions and chart orders for medications and related information; perform mathematical calculations for reducing bulk medications, diluting medications and transposing American and Metric systems; process charges for medications and related services; operate a computer; work with health professionals and patients; understand and follow oral and written instructions.
A background check may be conducted for this classification.
