Position overview
Responsible for daily entry of charges that appropriately reflect all services, procedures, and supplies utilized for each patient in Surgical Services.
Ensures all surgical service charges are entered and reconciled into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System on a daily basis by checking the reconciliation report and work queue reports via the batching method after documentation is finalized by surgical RN.
Checks final schedule to ensure add on cases are accounted for.
Identifies and submits for correction of documentation deficiencies.
Works closely with clinical team and business services team to ensure accuracy of billing and implant items are correctly priced.
Will require direct interface with clinical team for clarification and further explanation.
Works collaboratively with all physician offices to schedule all surgical cases for GFCH in a timely and efficient manner.
Works cooperatively with: New Patient Registration, Insurance Desk, Surgery Providers and/or office staff and external customers.
Receives direction from: Director of Quality and Operating Room Clinical Leadership.
Education
High School diploma or equivalent, required
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
Experience
• Experience in a healthcare highly preferred.
License/Certifications
• Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to work independently under regular supervision.
Uses structured work procedures and independent judgement to solve problems and achieve high quality levels.
Work output has a significant impact on business goal attainment.
Customers include physicians, nurses, physician office staff, third party payors, central billing staff, staff from other departments and patients/patient families
Ability to perform all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.
