Ophthalmic Assistants work alongside ophthalmologists and optometrists to provide patient care by performing various eye-related clinical functions, including taking histories, conducting tests, and preparing patients for physician consultation. Their primary role is to gather important diagnostic information to assist doctors in the medical and surgical treatment of patients.
Candidates must be self-starters with the ability to learn complex concepts and develop strong, empathetic connections with patients, ideally possessing previous professional experience with a strong customer service focus. A High School Diploma or GED is required, and while previous medical field experience is preferred, the company is willing to train the right person.
