The Medical Interpreter must provide accurate, complete, and culturally responsive interpretation services for patients, families, and healthcare providers across various settings using in-person, video, or phone modalities. This role ensures effective communication regarding diagnoses, treatments, and patient rights while maintaining confidentiality and impartiality.
Candidates must possess a High School diploma or equivalent and have a minimum of six months of prior experience in medical interpretation and translation. Essential requirements include the ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, to facilitate communication for Limited English Proficiency (LEP) individuals.
· Provide accurate and effective interpretation (or translation) of procedures and other interactions for limited English-speaking patients (both adult and adolescent) their families, and staff, via phone, in person or in writing. · Brings value to each encounter by being an advocate for the patient and family. · Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations. · Ability to document according to policy and bill accurately for interpretation sessions.
Education: · High School diploma or equivalent required Experience: · Must have 6 months of prior medical interpretation and translation experience · Must have ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing Must have ASL certification
