Counselors will provide individual and group counseling services, coordinate all services throughout treatment, and develop aftercare and discharge plans for patients. They are also responsible for facilitating and reviewing initial treatment plans with each patient and involving families in the recovery process.
Candidates must hold specific substance use disorder counselor certifications (ASUDC, CASUDC, LMHC, LCSW, etc.) recognized in Utah and possess an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences. A satisfactory criminal background check and drug screen are also mandatory requirements.
Substance abuse counselors will be in charge with assisting patients through medically assisting programs and offering techniques for handling opioid addiction. Counselor conducts group sessions and individual sessions to assist with crisis management and coping strategies. Additionally, counselors will evaluate patients’ progress during therapy. Substance abuse counselors may also need to collaborate with doctors, nurses and therapists for patients’ therapy and treatment for the best overall outcome.

Must hold an ASUDC, CASUDC, CASUDC-I, SUDC, CSUDC, CSUD-I, LMHC, CMHC, LPS, LCSW, CSW, or SSW in the state of Utah. Associates and/or bachelor’s in behavioral sciences Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screen
