The Phlebotomist functions as a laboratory professional responsible for performing specimen collection techniques, which include venipuncture and capillary draws. This role also involves providing instructions for urine collection and specimen culture collection.
Candidates must possess a High School diploma or equivalent and have completed an accredited phlebotomy or medical assistant program including clinicals, or have previous phlebotomy experience. Certification from a nationally recognized agency such as NHA, ASCP, AMT, NCCT, or ACA is required.
