The Labor & Delivery Nurse guides patients through labor and childbirth, focusing on maternal and fetal safety, which includes triaging walk-ins, monitoring progress, and assisting with deliveries or cesarean sections. Responsibilities also involve educating patients on procedures and communicating updates to the entire care management team.
Candidates must possess 1-2 years of Labor & Delivery experience along with current required certifications including California RN license, BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Advanced Fetal Monitoring. The role demands sensitivity, compassion, and the ability to remain calm during emergencies while supporting patients through major life milestones.
Triage walk-ins to determine if a patient is in labor water is broken false alarm etc Support pregnant patients in labor including induction epidural assistance (if needed) general pain management and fetal monitoring Assist and circulate in the operating room for cesarean sections tubal ligation cerclage and emergency procedures Educate patients on various interventions or procedures - medications (name and purpose) exams and labor stages Assess newborn and provide care.
