The Behavioral Health Tech assists Registered Nurses in providing care for adult psychiatric patients, which includes monitoring their physical and mental condition, maintaining clean patient areas, and interacting with patients individually and in groups. Duties also involve supporting providers and ensuring the health and safety of all patients on each shift.
A high school diploma or GED is required for this position, though a CNA certification is preferred. Candidates should ideally have one year of experience in an acute behavioral health setting, and must obtain BLS and CPI certification within 30 days of employment.

A Behavioral Health Tech / Mental Health Tech helps provide care for patients who have mental health issues with job duties including dietary, cleaning of their environment and safety monitoring being some of the primary duties. The Behavioral Health Tech shall be under the immediate supervision of a Registered Nurse, supporting providers (physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants) in provision of patient care. The duties of the Behavioral Health Tech shall be in keeping with accepted standards for the state employed and the rules and regulations of the Hospital.
