Optometrists are responsible for providing primary eye care, which extends beyond prescribing contacts and eyeglasses to managing ocular disease based on their comfort level. This includes diagnosing and treating various conditions such as corneal ulcers, uveitis, red eye, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma.
Candidates must possess a Doctor of Optometry (OD) Degree from an Accredited School of Optometry. Applicants must also be state-licensed or eligible for licensure to practice Optometry in the state where they will be practicing.
