The Senior Professional Staff Nurse BSN OR is responsible for setting standards for the quality of care, managing patient care activities for a group of patients, and demonstrating leadership, partnership, and collaboration with the care team. Responsibilities include advocating for patients, circulating and scrubbing surgeries, maintaining a sterile environment, and documenting patient care.
Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of CVOR experience and hold current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse. Requirements include performing scrub role duties, maintaining performance evaluations at a 'Solid/Strong/Good' level or higher, and obtaining necessary certifications or advanced degrees within one year of hire.
Patient advocate. Ability to circulate and scrub surgeries. Maintain sterile environment. Acquire knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation. Documentation of care provided to patient. Performs scrub role (requirement for RNs hired on or after July 1, 2023). *Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.*Performs other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:30am - 3:00pm, on-call to include weekdays, weekends and rotating holidays
Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse either in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located. UPMC approved nursing certification preferred. Annual completion of a professional contributions selected from department, hospital or system goals, and approved by Unit Director OR UPMC approved nursing certification required within 1 year of hire/transfer and must be maintained. OR Certification not required if Master's in nursing or DNP is held. If a BSN is held, a Master's degree in a related field may be substituted in lieu of Certification. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Registered Nurse (RN) Act 34 *Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
