The specialist conducts occupational therapy assessments, develops and monitors treatment plans, provides direct treatment, and offers consultation and training for individuals, families, and staff. Responsibilities include providing evaluation, treatment, consultation, and program development for children and adults with developmental disabilities.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy, current National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy registration, and a Michigan State Occupational Therapist license. A minimum of one year of professional experience working with persons with developmental disabilities and a valid Michigan driver's license are also required.

Under the supervision of the Supervisor of the Clinical Services Unit, conducts occupational therapy assessments, develops and monitors treatment plans, provides direct treatment, and provides consultation and training to individuals, families, and staff. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: providing evaluation, treatment, consultation, and developing programs for children and adults with developmental disabilities. Must be experienced in the areas of neuromuscular functioning, sensory integration, daily living performance, pre-vocational and vocational skills. In addition to having excellent clinical skills, the individual must be able to work efficiently and independently, providing direct services to individuals as necessary, participating in person-centered planning meetings, and maintaining records on each person’s progress. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures.
Possession of a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy (OT) from an accredited college or university required. Possession of an appropriate State of Michigan credential is required. Current registration with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy and licensure in the State of Michigan as an Occupational Therapist required. One year of professional work experience with persons with developmental disabilities is required. Ability to communicate accurately and effectively both in writing and verbally required. Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for job related use is required.
Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of a background verification and credentialing procedure consisting of: Michigan State Police clearance check, verification of a professional license, Medicaid/Medicare verification, verification of an acceptable driving record, educational background check, and verification of an acceptable work history. Must undergo and pass a Central Registry Clearance Check. Must pass a pre-employment 5-panel drug screen.

Starting salary $31.17-$34.87/hour. 40 hours per week. Monday through Friday, with occasional weeknights possible.
