The role involves providing exceptional care to patients by collaborating with nurses and physicians, utilizing RT-driven protocols, and employing advanced practices such as esophageal balloon-guided ventilation and advanced ventilator strategies. Therapists are expected to use a variety of tools and be proactive in their approach to respiratory care.
Candidates must possess an Associate's or Bachelor's degree, or meet specific criteria for non-degreed applicants with RRT credentials prior to January 1, 2006, or military RT program graduates. Required credentials include a State Respiratory license and BLS certification at hire, with new graduates needing to obtain NBRC RRT within six months.
