The Pharmacy Technician assists the Pharmacist by preparing and dispensing medications, including mixing IV additive solutions using aseptic technique and preparing unit-of-use dosages. Essential duties also involve processing records, computing charges, generating reports, managing inventory, and delivering IVs to appropriate locations.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and preferably one year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital setting, along with basic computer skills. Required abilities include effective communication, strong organizational skills, the capacity to handle multiple tasks, good math and science aptitude, and fluent English proficiency.
Education High School diploma or equivalent. Licenses/Certification State Certification/Licensure if required by state. Experience Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital pharmacy setting preferred. Basic understanding of the role of and use of a computer in the processing of prescription orders with minimum word processing skills.
