The surgeon will provide operative and non-operative Trauma and Acute Care Surgery services, including ICU care for critically ill patients, leading trauma activations, and managing emergency surgical cases. Responsibilities also involve participating in the ACS service, inpatient consults, collaborating with APPs, and contributing to quality initiatives and documentation.
Candidates must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery, with a preference for a Trauma/Surgical Critical Care fellowship and prior experience in high-acuity surgical environments. Eligibility for Texas medical licensure is required.

(SAMGI) Location: Amarillo, TX Hospital: Northwest Texas Healthcare System Position Overview Surgical Affiliates Management Group, Inc. (SAMGI) is seeking Trauma & Acute Care Surgeons to join the surgical team at Northwest Texas Healthcare System in Amarillo, TX. This position offers the opportunity to practice within a 495-bed Level II Trauma Center with established volume, defined coverage expectations, and a collaborative care model supported by experienced APPs.
Program Highlights Level II Trauma Center with strong, consistent volume High level of acuity Dedicated surgical ICU 24/7 in-house trauma coverage with structured backup system Residency program launching July 2026 (Texas Tech partnership) Clinic space available in on-campus MOB Schedule Structure 24-Hour shifts 151 shifts per year (12–13 shifts/month) Additional backup-only shifts available Compensation Base Salary: $544,000 annually Backup-Only Shifts: $500/night (additional earning opportunity) Trauma Medical Director Admin Stipend: $80,000 Key Responsibilities Provide operative and non-operative Trauma and ACS services ICU care for our most critically injured and ill patients Lead trauma activations and manage emergency surgical cases Participate in ACS service and inpatient consults Collaborate with APPs and multidisciplinary teams Participate in quality initiatives and maintain timely documentation
