The Medical Assistant is responsible for supporting providers in delivering high-quality patient care and fostering a culture of safety within the primary care setting. Primary duties include greeting patients, taking histories and vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and assisting providers during procedures and diagnostic testing.
Required qualifications include a High School diploma or equivalent, current Washington State Medical Assistant Certification, current national certification from an approved organization, and current Healthcare Provider BLS certification by the date of hire. Proficiency with EMR use and medical terminology is also mandatory.
1. Greets and rooms patients per standard. 2. Takes patients history and vital signs. 3. Prepares patients for exam. 4. Assists provider with exam/surgical procedures and diagnostic testing. 5. Maintains appropriate sterile environment for the clinical procedure or situation, adhering to the Washington State standard for transmission precautions. 6. Administers injections (intradermal, subcutaneous and intramuscular) per provider orders.
