The radiation therapist provides safe and accurate radiation treatment to patients, recognizing essential patient conditions for successful procedures and communicating effectively among team members. Responsibilities include receiving orders, performing planning CT scans, constructing immobilization devices, delivering prescribed therapy, and evaluating image quality.
Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED and be a graduate of an accredited education program in Radiologic Technology/Radiation Therapy. Required knowledge includes human anatomy, oncology, radiobiology, radiation physics, and proficiency with equipment like simulators and linear accelerators.
The radiation therapist is responsible for providing safe and accurate radiation treatment to patients with compassion. A radiation therapist recognizes patient conditions essential for the successful completion of simulation and treatment, communicates information among team members, and fosters a collegial working environment.
Job Relationships: Reports to the Operations Manager, works directly with Radiation Oncologists, Physicists, & Lead Therapist
