The General Physician provides comprehensive on-site medical care, including diagnosis, treatment, and prevention for acute, urgent, emergent, and chronic conditions, serving as the on-site medical authority. Key duties involve patient assessments, ordering diagnostics, managing medications, coordinating referrals, responding to emergencies, and supporting quality improvement and compliance activities.
Candidates must possess a Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine degree and complete three years of specialty training in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine, leading to board certification in one of these fields. A minimum of one year of post-residency direct patient care experience is required, along with an unrestricted Maryland Physician license and DEA registration.
Basic Requirements/Certifications: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a Physician in Maryland or have the ability to obtain one. Must have and maintain an unrestricted license from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to prescribe controlled medications. A minimum of one year post residency experience providing direct patient care as a board certified or eligible physician in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine or Preventive Health. Basic Life Support (BLS) certified by the American Heart Association (AHA). Education Required: Doctor of Medicine degree from a U.S. or Canadian program accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education sponsored by the Association of American Medical Colleges and the American Medical Association (AMA) OR Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from a program accredited by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) OR Certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates if you are a graduate of a medical school that is not located within a U.S. State or territory or other jurisdiction, or a Province or Territory of Canada. Completion of three years of medical specialty training in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine leading to board certification in that field, and at least 1 year of directly related, professional experience performing professional or scientific work in a field of medicine providing direct patient-care services. Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine. Must be proficient to provide care to adults of all ages, to include the care of female health conditions, supervision of prenatal care, and care of chronic health conditions common to the primary care setting. Physical Requirements: Required to walk unaided at a normal pace for up to 5 minutes and maintain balance. Required to jog/fast walk up to ¼ mile. Requires physical exertion such as lifting objects greater than 30 pounds. Required to perform CPR/emergency care standing or kneeling. Must have the ability to assist sick, injured, or aging patients or staff exiting the building (may require lifting, dragging, wheeling, or carrying someone who weighs significantly more than self). Must be able to see, hear and smell with aids if necessary. Must be able to lift, push, or carry 30 pounds. Must perform the duties of my job in a stressful and often austere environment without physical limitations. Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time. Average manual dexterity for computer operation. Phone or computer use for extended periods of time. Other Special Qualifications: Must maintain current/physical residency in the continental U.S. Pass a medical examination conducted by a licensed physician within 30 days prior to initial assignment. U.S. citizen and have resided in the U.S. for the last five years (unless abroad on official U.S. government duty). Successfully engage in and complete a thorough Background Investigation. Poses or have ability to obtain required security clearances. Proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
