Work Shift Day (United States of America) Job Summary: The Medication Assistance Coordinator serves as the hub for prior authorizations, patient assistance programs, co-pay assistance program, foundation programs, and additional programs allowing patients to access medications associated with key service lines within the medical center as well as health system clinics.
This position is responsible for providing front line, direct contact with patients, families, providers, nurses, social workers and pharmacies.
The Medication Assistance Coordinator performs all the essential functions of the Pharmacy Technician.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Screens, processes and completes prior authorization, patient assistance, co-pay assistance, foundation assistance and other medication programs.
Follows up with patients and providers on refill and reauthorizations as required by payers or assistance programs.
Processes prescriptions through AU Health IT platforms in an accurate manner.
Coordinates shipping and delivery activities associated with common carrier and courier services to assure accurate and timely medication delivery.
Cross trains to provide staffing as a Pharmacy Technician.
Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Required Minimum Education: High School Diploma General or GED General or Associates Other-Preferred Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
