The therapist provides respiratory care by utilizing critical thinking skills to assess the patient, implement, and evaluate the plan of care, including administering prescribed medications. They are also responsible for providing health education to patients and families and collaborating with others in patient care delivery.
Minimum requirements include a current state license and successful completion of hospital and departmental orientation, along with basic computer knowledge. Preferred qualifications include one year of hospital experience and holding the CRT credential.
Provides respiratory care using critical thinking skills learned and refined through education and experience as a Respiratory Therapist. A Certified Respiratory Therapist demonstrates these skills by successfully completing examinations administered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and earning the credential CRT. Provides a caring relationship that facilitates health and healing. Performs other job duties as assigned.
