The role of the Direct Support Professional/Residential is to provide direct care services to Gesher clients in a group or private home setting.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Other
Minimum high school diploma; must be over the age of 18
Valid Michigan driver’s license, three (3) years of driving experience, and must have own vehicle at work, vehicle insurance and registration
Flexibility, knowledge of basic housekeeping skills
Duties and Responsibilities
Implement client treatment plans as determined by the treatment team
Carry out daily routines as assigned
Ensure access to recreational, cultural, and religious opportunities for clients
Provide transportation to and from vocational programs, day programs, medical and dental appointments, activities, etc. with company and/or personal vehicle (if applicable)
Ability to assist clients who have mobility, balance, strength and/or physical limitations
Write daily entries into log regarding each client and his/her interactions; with peer group, Gesher staff, interactions at day/work program and in the community, health and hygiene, household responsibilities and other pertinent information
Assist and support clients with household responsibilities and/or perform house chores when clients refuse or are unable to do so, e.g. laundry, meal prep/clean up
Review and sign medication information sheets
Accurate administration and documentation of medications
Attendant all mandatory meetings
Follow the attendance policy
Assist with daily living issues
Provide support and encouragement
Knowledge and implementation of emergency procedures
Accurately account for any money assigned
Act as a positive role model for clients and co-workers
Attend scheduled staff meetings and supervision sessions with the house manager
Follow Gesher mission statement and core values
Abide by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics, Adult Protection Code, Mental Health Code, and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (C.A.R.F.) guidelines
Responsible to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times
Required to complete all assigned and required trainings
May be asked and/or mandated to picked up additional shifts if needed
Will be assigned a designated home location but may be asked and/or mandated to work at any other Residential location or site that supports this business unit.

Ability to work in a confined area.
Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.
Physical requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard, reach, stoop, kneel to install computer equipment.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
Light to moderate lifting in required.
