The Birth Sister I provides non-clinical physical, emotional, and evidence-based informational support to the birthing person and family throughout prenatal, birth, and postpartum periods, acting as a liaison with clinical providers. Responsibilities include facilitating communication, providing comfort measures during labor, conducting postpartum follow-ups, and documenting all patient encounters immediately.
A High School Diploma or GED is required, along with basic doula training from an accredited program. Candidates must complete extensive internal BMC training and supervised hours within 90 to 180 days of hire, and prior experience in related fields like social services or maternal health is preferred but not mandatory.
