The role involves providing direct support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities according to service plans, which includes assistance with socialization, health maintenance, and daily living activities. Essential functions also cover accurate documentation, maintaining professional relationships, reporting incidents, and ensuring the health and safety of the individuals served.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old and preferably possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with six months of experience in human services. A valid driver's license in good standing is required, along with the ability to perform heavy physical work, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally.
Reports any instance of alleged abuse or neglect according to internal and external standards; reports medical, behavioral and other incidents in accordance with Sevita policy and external requirements.
Vehicles: May transport individuals into the community; drives safely and according to local laws; ensures proper use of safety equipment including seat belts, lifts and wheelchair ties; reports accidents to appropriate authorities immediately; reports accidents and safety concerns immediately to supervisor or maintenance personnel.
Checks water temperature as required when assisting with bathing; participates in safety drills and protects persons being served in the event of emergency.
