The Sonographer is responsible for efficiently performing high-quality diagnostic ultrasound exams and procedures according to physician orders, while maintaining cooperative relationships with patients, physicians, and interdepartmental personnel. Key duties include managing study completion timeliness, assisting physicians with procedures, maintaining supplies, adhering to on-call policies, and ensuring equipment cleanliness and safety.
Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited sonography school and achieve ARDMS and/or CCI registration within six months of hire, possessing BLS certification upon hire or within 30 days. Desirable experience includes vascular and/or echocardiography, and required job knowledge includes familiarity with Arkansas Department of Health requirements and hospital operations.

The Sonographer is responsible for performing high quality diagnostic exams/procedures in the Ultrasound department in an efficient manner according to the physician’s order. The Sonographer works effectively with patients and physicians and maintains cooperative relationship with interdepartmental personnel.

Job responsibilities require a considerable amount of physical work. The individual will be required to assist with lifting and moving patients, pushing of carts, wheelchairs, and other equipment; and lifting or pushing of up to 300 pounds. Workday requires frequent walking, stooping, bending, and moderate degrees of stooping and repetitive hand and wrist movement. Work requires dexterity, hand/eye coordination, and physical ability to push and operate medical equipment. The individual must also be able to maneuver throughout the halls, stairways, and patient rooms in response to hospital emergencies.
