The specialist diagnoses and treats speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive disorders, focusing on complex and specialty cases for assigned site(s) by designing and administering treatment plans. Responsibilities also include counseling patients and families, documenting reports for billing, participating in the inter-disciplinary team, and providing staff education and mentorship.
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology, current Michigan licensure, and the Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA. A minimum of three years of clinical experience is required to ensure skills for independent patient treatment, along with achieving a minimum score on professional growth criteria.
1. Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology. 2. Current license to practice as a Speech Language Pathologist in the State of Michigan. 3. Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association. 4. Three years of clinical experience in order to acquire skills for independent patient treatment. 5. Minimum of 60 points on the professional growth and development criteria.
